Our History

CRC Communications has been servicing Thunder Bay and surrounding areas with decades of service and industry knowledge. We are proud to be a company that is entirely owned by Thunder Bay residents. The community is important to us, so we believe in sponsoring local charities and athletes.

Our market consists of various trades from healthcare, local mills, construction companies and schools to name a few. Whether for personal, large or small business, let us evaluate your requirements and help you choose the right product or service to assist you with your endeavors.

Kathy Novak

Paging Network Coordinator

Kathy has worked at CRC Communications for 17 years. Her role here has changed and evolved as the business and personnel has grown and changed. With a customer service career that has spanned over 30 years, she enjoys seeing regular and new customers alike and prides herself on making sure their experience here at CRC Communications is always exceptional. Kathy specializes in Cellular Services, Satellite technology, Paging and of course, after 17 years, she has an abundance of knowledge about all other aspects of our business.

Her sense of humour and her natural “mothering” habit, have led to many funny moments here at CRC. When not working, she takes great pleasure in spending time with her children and nieces and nephews. Her favourite sound is laughter. Kathy is grateful to spend time in California a few times a year, visiting her sister and taking in all the healing beauty of the Pacific Ocean.

Rebekah Howes

Accounts Coordinator

Rebekah is the Accounts Coordinator at CRC Communications. She is the one of the newest members to CRC team and brings a very unique and delightful aura to the office and to our customers. With her wide range of customer service experience she has excelled in all aspects of the job. Rebekah loves a challenge and specializes in Android based problem solving. If she doesn’t know the answer to the problem she will do her best to find the answer for you.

Rebekah is an animal lover with two cats and a dog who rescued her as much as she rescued them. An avid book reader, aspiring baker and wannabe hiker, she spends her spare time chasing the next adventure (even if it is just in her imagination).

Arja Bingham

Cellular Coordinator

Arja, a graduate from Confederation College with a diploma in Broadcasting Television Production, joined CRC in 2011 in an administrative role. It was immediately clear that keeping her confined to one domain would be underutilizing her ability and personality. Arja currently coordinates the Cellular and Rental divisions and oversees all Inventory aspects of the business. Her effervescent personality adds a dimension to the dynamic within the business that doesn’t go unnoticed. Arja approaches each challenge and every interaction with the intent on achieving top notch service. Outside of the office, Arja is likely travelling. Whether she’s off to camp for the weekend, flying or driving somewhere for a concert/sporting event, or to Europe to explore, she enjoys being active and never one to let an adventure pass her by.

Director of Administration and Finance

Gary is a partner and the Director of Finance and Administration of CRC Communications. He joined the organization as an Accountant in 1996 after obtaining his professional CPA, CA designation.

Gary always promotes an “open-door” policy that welcomes anyone in his office to problem solve or simply catch up on life events. He knows the strength of the organization is not based on one person, rather it is a combination of incredible people that work in tandem to achieve success. If you don’t find Gary in his office you don’t have to look further than the nearest golf course, as that is his recreational passion. As he approaches each day he is the first to claim “A good Work/Life balance is the key to staying fresh and enjoying what you do”

Dan Chambers

Director of Sales - Education, Healthcare, & Landline

Dan is proud to have been born and raised in the town of Dorion, 45 minutes East of Thunder Bay in Northwestern Ontario. Dan moved to Thunder Bay to attend Confederation College, graduating from the Electronics Engineering program in 1991. Since graduating, Dan has been employed in the Communication Field for 30 years, including the sales, installation and support for Health Care, Education and Telecommunication Systems.

Dan is married to Allison and they have two children, Andrew and Megan. Dan enjoys spending time doing outdoor activities throughout Northwestern Ontario, including fishing, hunting and camping.

Mike Grzelewski

Director of Sales - Wireless

Mike was born and raised in Thunder Bay and has also lived in Ottawa while attending university. He graduated from Fort William Collegiate High School and the University of Ottawa. After graduation Mike started his career in communications in 1988 with Motorola and for the last 25 years with CRC Communications. Presently, Mike is a Partner at CRC and specializes in radio and wireless communications sales.

Mike is married to Andrea with two children Lindsay and Zachary. He enjoys sports and the odd biking adventure amongst other activities.

Karen joined CRC Communications in 2005 as a Customer Service Representative. Her extensive managerial experience and vast personal drive enabled her to grow into her current position as Service Coordinator.

Karen thoroughly enjoys working for a locally owned company which employs brilliant and talented people within a family-oriented environment. Working within an ever-changing industry keeps Karen on her feet and makes every day new and fulfilling.

During her free time, she enjoys spending quality time with her husband Norm. Whether they’re off to camp for the weekend, on a mini-vacay somewhere or traveling to a tropical destination for a Winter getaway, they aspire to make every moment a memorable one.

Chris O’Gormam

Chris has lived in Thunder Bay his whole life.  He started working in December 2011. Focused on installations and repair work for radio and linking systems. He enjoys that the business demands you to change and adapt to the challenges he is responsible for. Every day can be different. One day you’re in the office and the other you’re driving to white river to work on systems an hour into the woods. CRC makes sure we are prepared for the Jobs by keeping our training up to date. The best part of his job is being able to expand my understanding of a product or its capabilities and applying the knowledge to good use. He enjoys running, biking, hiking and real camping away from it all.

Greg Kasstan

Greg Kasstan

Senior Technician

Greg Kasstan has more than 50 years of experience in the electronics field. After completing his formal electronic training he has worked on a vast amount of diverse electrical, electronic, and communications systems. He helped install the first electronic scales and control system in Thunder Bay at Saskatchewan Wheat Pool 7 now Viterra as an electrical apprentice. In 2019 he repaired and upgraded the latest digital radio system at Viterra.

He worked as an Avionics tech installing and maintaining avionics and electrical control systems on a fleet of 27 aircraft in Thunder Bay and North Western Ontario. Not only did he work on voice communications systems he was also responsible for all the Navigation and electrical and electronic control systems including digital transponders, distance measuring equipment and aircraft radar systems.

His career took him to join John Hastie where he began installing and maintaining Marine Radar and communications on all the ships. He received formal training on several types of steering gear systems and ECPINS electronic Navigation systems. Greg has worked and serviced INMARSAT satellite communications systems, underground Mine Radio Systems, Leaky feeder systems, microwave and multiplex radio systems, gryo compasses and hydraulic control systems.

At CRC Communications for the past 30 years he has continued to install and maintain ambulance, police, fire dept, MTO, and CBSA equipment. He has serviced all types of radio systems made by Motorola, ICOM, Kenwood, analogue and digital conventional and trunked radio systems.

In the fast changing electronics field his technical knowledge and diverse skills are relied upon daily throughout North Western Ontario. Greg has also maintained a dual career in the Canadian Forces Reserve serving in a Command position at HMCS Griffon in the Naval reserve. He has transitioned to a position with the Canadian Cadet Organization as the Administration Officer with the 70 Thunder Bay Air Cadets.

He can be seen at the Canada games complex , Thunder Bay Border Cats games and Thunder Wolves hockey games with his family.

Marc Boileau

Senior Technician

Marc started with CRC Communications in 2012 as a Telecom Technician. He has brought plenty of knowledge and energy to our company and continues to thrive each day.

Marc often says “The best part of my job is seeing the finished result of any major construction job CRC Communications has been involved in and knowing that I had a hand in it.” He also says, “The best part of working at CRC Communication is the freedom, flexibility and how everyone is there to support and help out when needed”. Marc is an avid outdoorsman and has a dog named Cali.

Albert Domenis

Veteran of The Canadian Armed forces Communications Reserve. Worked in the Pulp and Paper Industry before Graduating from the Electronic Engineering Technician program at Confederation College

Started with CRC communications in July 1994. Employed as a radio technician before transferring to the telecom department at its start up. Certification includes EXI wandering patient security systems, Rauland Borg nurse call systems, Stanley-hugs infant security systems. Trained in Comtrain tower safety and rescue and was certified as a tower safety and rescue instructor. Schoolview campus SV school intercom, Kantech Card Access systems, Carehawk Intercom systems, Several Certifications with Panasonic business telephone systems, As well as safety related training certificates.

I enjoy the variety of the work we do whether it is a small cable job, repairs, or a large multi system installation on a new construction. I enjoy seeing the end result and a happy customer. Travelling and spending time in the great outdoors are a few of my favorite things to do.

Brian Lerossignol

Technician Manager

Brian was born and raised in Thunder Bay and graduated from Confederation College in 1984. He was then employed by Motorola in 1985 which transitioned to CRC Communications in 1992. Brian is always eager to learn about new technologies and has worked on numerous large scale projects including wireless link infrastructure, radio communication design and install, surveillance camera design and install to name a few. With his extensive knowledge and experience, Brian moved his way up to Technician Manager and is CRC’s go to guy whenever anyone needs help troubleshooting or to try and make the impossible possible. He is always up for a challenge and enjoys working on solutions.

When Brian is not at work he enjoys spending time with his family.

Technician

Zach is one of the technicians at CRC Communications. He is a new addition to the team of with a background in electronics and computers. He graduated from Confederation College with a diploma in Electronics Engineering Technician and Instrumentation Process Automation and Controls in 2018.  Zach was born and raised in Thunder Bay, Ontario and is excited to be working for a locally owned business. He has a passion for technology and seeing new developments in the technical world. He says that having the opportunity to be a part of the growth of electronic communication in Thunder Bay is a unique experience. As much as he loves technology, he also likes to get away from it whether it be camping or hiking, or playing sports with friends. Zach likes to experience the outdoors and get out and explore.

Technician

Trevor started with CRC Communications in 2017 as an Electronic Technician. His vast knowledge of 35 years in the trade makes him a valued asset to CRC.

Trevor has extensive technical skills installing, repairing and maintaining communication equipment.  He has worked with various industries over the years that include Mining, Forestry, Transportation, Government, etc.  Most of the work he does is in remote locations which enables him to utilize his ingenuity on a daily basis in an ever-changing business.

Trevor is an avid outdoorsman who enjoys fishing and hunting.  You’ll often find him on a lake either in a boat or on a ski doo heading to a cabin in the woods.
